Jakarta – The case of the coastal fencing has gone viral again and caused a public uproar. This time, the construction of a mysterious bamboo fence was found on the shores of Kampung Paljaya, Jembatan Cinta, Desa Segara Jaya, Kecamatan Tarumajaya, Kabupaten Bekasi, West Java.
This was discovered after a video recording showing the view of the sea fence around the location was uploaded by a netizen on the social media platform TikTok.
In the recording, several fishermen are seen navigating the waters using traditional wooden boats. They showed a row of neatly installed bamboo poles, forming a barrier between two different sea areas. There also appears to be heavy machinery activity at the site.
Regarding this matter, the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), Doni Ismanto, stated that the sea enclosure activities in the area are confirmed to not have the Sea Space Utilization Activity Suitability Permit (KKPRL).
“For the Bekasi case, the KKP has never issued a KKPRL for activities like those in the video in question,” he said when contacted on Tuesday (15/1/2025).
Doni said that the KKP Fisheries Resource Supervisory Team has gone to the location to conduct an investigation and even sent a cessation of activities letter.
