Political observer and researcher at Populi Center, Usep S Ahyar, predicts that the meeting between PDIP Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri and President Prabowo Subianto will take place before the PDIP Congress. The PDIP congress is scheduled for April 2025.
Usep suspects that Megawati is concerned about the possibility of parties disrupting the upcoming PDIP Congress. Therefore, Megawati needs Prabowo to dispel those concerns.
“It could be before the congress, because from Mrs. Mega’s speech, it seems there are parties that are interfering.” “I think that is a signal from someone who will be oppressed in the political context asking for help from the person who currently has power, namely Mr. Prabowo,” said Usep to Media Indonesia, Thursday (1/16).
Usep believes that Prabowo will provide assistance to oversee the PDIP Congress and help Megawati return to the position of chairperson. However, there is no such thing as a free lunch. He believes that Prabowo will need the strength of PDIP and Megawati in running the wheels of government.
“Mr. Prabowo also needs a balance from Mrs. Mega, who is a major figure and PDIP, a large party with a long history in Indonesian politics.” I think the meeting later will discuss the interests of each party and find common ground,” he said.
The Secretary-General of the Gerindra Party, Ahmad Muzani, hopes that the meeting between the Chairperson of the PDIP, Megawati Soekarnoputri, and President Prabowo Subianto can happen soon. He hopes that the meeting can take place this month.

“I pray that it can happen this month, the sooner the better,” said Muzani, at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (15/1).
Muzani said that Megawati and Prabowo have a good personal relationship. When Prabowo was elected as president, their relationship continued to be good. Although PDIP is not formally part of the government, Muzani expressed gratitude that PDIP continues to support Prabowo’s administration.
“It is true that they have never met, but communication has been carried out in various ways so that the messages from both of them reach each other,” he said.
