Hasto Kristiyanto’s Legal Team on KPK Not Attending the First Pretrial Hearing: Maybe Too Busy

The South Jakarta District Court postponed the first pretrial hearing of the Secretary-General of the DPP PDI Perjuangan (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto, against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The reason is that the anti-corruption agency did not attend the first hearing.

Hasto Kristiyanto’s legal team, represented by Maqdir Ismail, claimed not to be bothered by the KPK’s absence.

He admitted to respecting all legal steps taken by the KPK and everything it does.

“Let’s not harbor bad thoughts towards the KPK, we respect them, maybe they are too busy so they haven’t had the chance to attend,” said Maqdir at the South Jakarta District Court, Tuesday (21/1/2025).

Maqdir also believes that the absence of the KPK in today’s trial could be due to the need to prepare additional materials to strengthen the accusations against his client, who has been a suspect since December 24, 2024.

“Maybe the KPK is also preparing sufficient preliminary evidence to refute or strengthen their arguments, I think so,” he said.

Previously, the South Jakarta District Court postponed the first pretrial hearing of the Secretary-General of the DPP PDI Perjuangan (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto, against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

According to Single Judge Djuyamto, the KPK requested a postponement through an official letter dated January 16, 2025. However, the legal team of the anti-corruption agency did not show up after the trial was opened.

“The respondent has not appeared today; we have received a letter requesting a postponement of the hearing on January 16 after the respondent was summoned by the court to appear today. Please, the petitioner’s representative, check the letter.” “This is an official letter from the respondent requesting a postponement,” said Djuyamto at the South Jakarta District Court, Tuesday (21/1/2025).
