Jakarta The South Jakarta District Court postponed the first pretrial hearing of the Secretary-General of the DPP PDI Perjuangan (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto, against the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
According to Judge Djuyamto, the KPK requested a postponement through an official letter dated January 16, 2025. Meanwhile, the legal team of the anti-corruption agency has yet to arrive even after the trial has commenced.
“The respondent has not appeared today; we have received a letter requesting a postponement of the hearing on January 16 after the respondent was summoned by the court to appear today. Please, the petitioner’s representative, check the letter.” “This is an official letter from the respondent requesting a postponement,” said Djuyamto at the South Jakarta District Court, Tuesday (21/1/2025).
Djuyamto stated that the KPK requested a postponement of the pretrial hearing for three weeks. However, this received a response from the Head of the Legal Team, Hasto Kristiyanto Ronny Tallapesy, as it was considered too long.
“Your Excellency, is it possible to speed things up?” asked Ronny.
Judge Djuyamto responded that there are several reasons why the postponement could not be held sooner, ranging from the long holiday next week to the clash of court schedules and university exams.
Therefore, he emphasized that the postponement was decided for only two weeks. Therefore, the next hearing will be held on February 5, 2025.
“We have decided to postpone for a maximum of two weeks. If we postpone for a week during the long holiday, I think my colleagues also want a long holiday, so we will postpone the next session or the second summons to Wednesday, February 5, 2025, because on January 21 I have an open exam, and on January 30 there is a trial at the Corruption Court,” explained Djuyamto.
Hearing that reason, Ronny and Hasto’s legal team agreed to hold the first hearing on February 5, 2025.
