AHY’s Story About the Ups and Downs of Democrats Wanting to Join the Government: Our Path is Blocked

Jakarta – Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) shared the journey of the Democratic Party, which now has a wide path and space to serve the community.

Because, 10 years earlier when the Democrats wanted to try being in the government, that access was always closed. However, the Democrats had no intention of being outside the government or in opposition at that time.

“The Democrats now have a path and a space for service that is much broader compared to 10 years ago.” “Let us be grateful after 10 years of being outside the government,” said AHY in his speech at the 2024 National Christmas Celebration in East Jakarta, Tuesday (21/1/2025).

“Even we became the opposition not because we did not want to play a role in the national government, but every time we wanted to take on those roles, our path was blocked.” Right? Politics is indeed like that. There’s nothing to regret, but it’s not easy,” he continued.

AHY said that although the Democratic Party has a path of service in the legislative, to realize the aspirations of the people, it certainly needs hands in the executive path.

Until finally, in 2025, the Democrats could be in government and are expected to remain there for the next five or ten years.

“When we want to realize the aspirations and hopes of the community, of course, we can work and play a role in the legislative path, but we need hands on the executive path.” “But it’s possible,” he said.

“But now, ladies and gentlemen, I also report to all Indonesian citizens wherever they are, that the Democratic Party is now in the national government and is performing very well.” This is a good opportunity. Let’s make 2025 a new milestone for the struggle and dedication of the Democratic Party,” he added.

He also urged all Democratic cadres not to waste the opportunity to be in the government for a better Indonesian society.

“Don’t waste this good momentum.” Five years from now, ten years from now, let’s welcome a better future for us to continue doing good for the Indonesian society we love,” added AHY.
