Jakarta Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka inspected the evacuation post located at the Central Jakarta Metro Police Station, following a major fire that occurred on Jalan Kemayoran Gempol, Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, early Tuesday morning (21/1/2025).
Observation at the location, Gibran was seen wearing a white shirt and black pants. His presence immediately attracted the attention of the refugees, especially mothers and children, where there are around 400 people displaced.
Some of them were very enthusiastic in welcoming, they were scrambling to shake hands with the Vice President. Security personnel and police intervened to restore order.
Gibran greeted the refugees warmly. Not only that, he also distributed educational toys to the children at the fire evacuation post.
While chatting with a mother carrying a small child, Gibran asked about her condition.
“Is the younger sibling okay?” The mother replied, “It’s okay, it’s just the clothes worn on the body,” while recounting that their school uniforms were burned to ashes.
Hearing the story, Gibran tried to calm his mother.
“Yes, it will be sent later,” said Gibran, indicating the provision of assistance.
In addition to visiting the evacuation post at the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Gibran also directly inspected the fire location not far from the evacuation site.
The Vice President’s entourage walked to the location. Gibran’s visit concluded with a visit to Al-Mu’awanah Mosque, which also serves as one of the evacuation centers for the fire victims.
