Jakarta – The Daily Chairman of the Gerindra Party DPP, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, stated that the ban on retailers selling 3 kg LPG gas is not a policy from President Prabowo Subianto, but rather from the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia.
However, Dasco said that due to the panic from the public, President Prabowo intervened.
“Actually, this is not the President’s policy to then prohibit it yesterday, but seeing the situation and conditions, the President intervened to instruct that the retailers can operate again,” said Dasco at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/2/2025).
According to him, President Prabowo has asked Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia to allow 3 kg LPG gas retailers to resume their sales activities. This is in response to the controversy over the scarcity of the sale of melon gas.
“After communication with the President, the President has instructed the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to reactivate the existing retailers to sell as usual for today,” said Dasco.
He mentioned that the plan for retailers to become sub-bases will be implemented gradually.
“While that is being done partially, the retailers will be asked, the President earlier instructed the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) so that today the retailers can start selling again while the regulations are then adjusted partially,” Dasco explained.

In addition, Dasco emphasized that the stock of 3 kg LPG gas is safe and has never been in short supply.
“Stock is not scarce, stock is available, stock is confirmed not to be scarce,” concluded Dasco.
