MEMBER of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the NasDem Party faction, Asep Wahyuwijaya, believes the government is lacking in diligence in implementing the distribution policy of 3 kg LPG gas, which only reaches the base level.
“The final chain of gas distribution that truly brings gas closer to the community is at retailers or small shops, not at the depots.” “When retailers are eliminated, residents are automatically forced to flock to the bases,” emphasized Asep in his statement on Tuesday (4/2).
According to him, this situation not only makes it difficult for the community but also adds to their burden. In addition to having to wait longer because the base location is farther away, residents are also forced to incur additional transportation costs.
“Is this what the government wants?” I am sure Mr. Prabowo would not have the heart to see his citizens suffer in the heat and struggle just to get 3 kg of LPG gas. The state should provide the basic needs of the people as close as possible, not push them away,” criticized Asep.
He added that if there are parties manipulating gas prices from the base to retailers, the government should take strict legal action, rather than issuing policies that harm the public.
“It would be better for the government, in this case, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, to revise the gas distribution policy so that retailers and small shops can once again play a role in the distribution chain,” he urged.

Asep, who is a legislator from the West Java V electoral district (Bogor Regency), emphasized that he, along with several members of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, will ask the commission’s leadership to hold a meeting with Pertamina immediately.
“We want to ensure that there are no issues in the production of subsidized gas.” To make it clear to the public that the difficulty in obtaining this subsidized gas is not due to production, but rather due to problematic distribution regulations,” he concluded.
