Jakarta The Ministry of Transportation, through the Directorate General of Land Transportation, has deployed a team to investigate a fatal series of accidents at the Ciawi Toll Gate, Bogor Regency, on Tuesday (February 4, 2025) night at 11:30 PM WIB.
Acting Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, Ahmad Yani, stated that his team is currently investigating the cause of the accident at the Ciawi Toll Gate.
“A team from the Ministry of Transportation was deployed to the scene to gather the necessary evidence and information.” The Ministry of Transportation continues to coordinate with the police and other relevant agencies to handle this accident,” he said on Wednesday (February 5, 2025).
Based on the information obtained by the Ministry of Transportation, the chronology of this fatal accident occurred due to a truck experiencing brake failure. The truck loaded with gallons experienced brake failure while traveling from Ciawi towards Jakarta, right in front of the toll gate.
So it crashed into a line of vehicles that were making e-toll payments. It was reported that three vehicles were burned to ashes, and three others were damaged.
From this accident, data on the victims were obtained, with 8 people dead and dozens more injured. The victims have been evacuated and taken to the Ciawi Regional General Hospital, which is near the incident location.
Yani said that the Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation extends its condolences for the series of accidents on the toll road, which were once again caused by brake failure in large vehicles.
“To all toll road users, always be careful and obey the existing traffic signs.” To the drivers, to ensure that the vehicle is in good condition before use,” he said.
