Jakarta – The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has transferred Phase II or handed over the responsibility of evidence and the suspect Thomas Trikasih Lembong (TTL) alias Tom Lembong, the former Minister of Trade (Mendag), in connection with the corruption case of sugar imports by the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag).
“The plan this morning at the Central Jakarta District Attorney’s Office,” said the Head of Legal Information Center of the Attorney General’s Office, Harli Siregar, when confirmed on Friday (14/2/2025).
Besides Tom Lembong, another suspect who was also transferred to the South Jakarta District Attorney’s Office in Phase II is Charles Sitorus (CS), the Director of Business Development at PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia (PT PPI).
“With Charles Sitorus, CS has arrived at the Central District Attorney’s Office,” said Harli.
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has officially named nine new suspects in the case of alleged corruption in the sugar importation activities at the Ministry of Trade for the years 2015-2016.
The Director of Investigation (Dirdik) of the Special Crimes Directorate at the Attorney General’s Office, Abdul Qohar, stated that the determination of the suspect was based on the examination results in conjunction with other evidence obtained during the investigation.
“The investigative team at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes has obtained sufficient evidence to establish nine suspects,” said Qohar at the Attorney General’s Office, South Jakarta, Monday (20/1/2025).
The suspects are TWN as the President Director of PT Angels Products (AP), WN as the President Director of PT Andalan Furnindo (AF), and HS as the President Director of PT Sentra Usahatama Jaya (SUJ).
Then IS as the President Director of PT Medan Sugar Industry (MSI), TSEP as the Director of PT Makassar Tene (MT), and HAT as the Director of PT Duta Sugar International (DSI).
Next, ASB as the President Director of PT Kebun Tebu Mas (KTM), HFH as the President Director of PT Berkah Manis Makmur (BMM), and ES as the Director of PT Permata Dunia Sukses Utama (PDSU).
“That with the issuance of the approval for the import of raw crystal sugar into white crystal sugar by the then Minister of Trade, Mr. TTL (Thomas Trikasih Lembong alias Tom Lembong) as the suspect, to the suspects who are private parties as I mentioned the nine people above, it caused the goal of price stabilization and the fulfillment of the national sugar stock through market operations in the community to not be achieved,” he explained.
“However, it actually benefits private parties and causes financial losses to the state,” he continued.
