Jakarta Vadel Badjideh, a suspect in the alleged underage sexual intercourse and abortion case, has filed a request for suspension of detention with the South Jakarta Metro Police.
That was revealed by the Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Nurma Dewi. The request was submitted by Vadel through his family, who then handed it over to the investigator.
“Indeed, VA’s family has submitted a request for a suspension of detention.” The letter has been made and then submitted to the investigator,” said Nurma Dewi at the South Jakarta Metro Police, Monday (17/2/2025).
“For the day and time, VA was designated as a suspect and then became a detainee,” Nurma Dewi added.
Reason for Postponement
Nurma Dewi could not explain further the reason why Vadel requested a detention suspension. She mentioned that the investigators know more about that matter.
“If it’s about the reason, it’s clearly with the investigator,” he added.
Rights of the Accused
According to Nurma, the police have received the detention suspension request submitted by Vadel. However, whether the request is accepted or not is at the discretion of the investigator.
“We accept the detention suspension because it is the suspect’s right to apply for it.” however, it is the authority of the investigator,” he explained.
Completing the Documents
Nurma added that for now, the investigators are still completing the case file for Vadel before it is submitted to the prosecutor’s office.
“The investigator is currently completing the file, which will later be sent to the prosecutor’s office.” “If it is indeed complete and declared P21, we will later hand over VA to the prosecutor’s office,” said Nurma Dewi.
