100 Days of Prabowo-Gibran’s Government Marked by Protests

The first hundred days of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s administration were marked by massive demonstrations titled “Indonesia Gelap.” This action was carried out by hundreds of students from various universities in Indonesia on Monday, February 17, 2025, in Jakarta and several other cities.

Quoting from Antara News, this demonstration was triggered by the government’s budget efficiency policy, which is considered detrimental to the people, especially in the education and social welfare sectors. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, in his statement at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday (18/2/2025), acknowledged the action as a form of freedom of expression.
“That it hasn’t been able to please all parties, perhaps there are those who haven’t accepted it.” “For us, the government, it’s normal,” he said as quoted by Antara News.
However, he also reminded the importance of delivering criticism wisely and not distorting the facts. He emphasized that the government remains open to criticism and constructive input from the public.
The Prabowo-Gibran administration has indeed faced various challenges from the beginning.
