Pertamina Denies Mixing Pertamax, Attorney General’s Office: The Reality Is Not Like That

Jakarta – The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) refuted the claim by Pertamina Patra Niaga Subholding Commercial & Trading PT Pertamina (Persero) that it did not mix Pertamax Fuel Oil (BBM). Because the Kejagung investigation found evidence to the contrary.

“The investigators found it was not like that.” There was RON 90 or below it, yes 88, blended with RON 92, so RON with RON, so it wasn’t like that earlier,” revealed the Director of Jampidsus at the Attorney General’s Office, Abdul Qohar, during a press conference on Wednesday night, (26/2/2025).
The revealed facts show that Pertamina buys RON 90 or lower octane gasoline at a price equivalent to RON 92. This results in the payment for imported refinery products at a high price that does not match the quality of the received goods.

“Suspect MK ordered and/or approved Suspect EC to blend refinery products of RON 88 (premium) with RON 92 (pertamax) at the terminal (storage) of PT Orbit Terminal Merak owned by Suspect MKAR and Suspect GRJ or sold at the price of RON 92,” explained Qohar.
In addition, Pertamina Patra Niaga is also burdened with the payment for imported refinery products through the direct appointment method. This practice is exacerbated by the markup on the shipment of goods that flows into the pockets of Yoki Firmandi (YF), the President Director of PT Pertamina Internasional Shipping.

“So PT Pertamina Patra Niaga issued fees ranging from 13 percent to 15 percent unlawfully, and these fees were given to the suspect MKAR as the Beneficial Owner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa and the suspect DW as the Commissioner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa,” Qohar continued.
As a result of these practices, the country suffered losses amounting to Rp193.7 trillion.

Pertamina Asserts Pertamax Quality Meets Specifications

Pertamina Patra Niaga Subholding Commercial & Trading PT Pertamina (Persero) asserts that there is no adulteration of Pertamax Fuel Oil (BBM).
The quality of Pertamax is ensured to meet the specifications set by the government, namely RON 92. This statement addresses the circulating issue.

“The products that enter Pertamina’s fuel terminals are finished products that comply with their respective RON, Pertalite has an RON of 90 and Pertamax has an RON of 92.” “The specifications distributed to the public from the initial reception of the product at Pertamina terminals have been in accordance with government regulations,” said Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Heppy Wulansari, Wednesday (26/2/2025).

Heppy continued, the treatment carried out at the main BBM terminal is the dye injection process as a product differentiator so that it is easily recognized by the public.
In addition, there is also an additive injection that functions to enhance the performance of Pertamax products.
“So it’s not about mixing or changing the RON.” The public does not need to worry about the quality of Pertamax,” explained Heppy.
