Jakarta – The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has arrested two new suspects in connection with the alleged corruption case in the management of crude oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina (Persero), Sub Holding, and Contractual Cooperation Contractors (KKKS) for the years 2018-2023. One of their roles was to blend RON 88 (premium) with RON 92 (pertamax).
The Head of the Legal Information Center of the Attorney General’s Office, Harli Siregar, stated that two suspects, namely MK as the Director of Central Marketing and Trade of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, and EC as the VP of Trading Operation of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, purchased RON 90 or lower at the price of RON 92 with the approval of the suspect RS as the President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, resulting in the import payment of refinery products at a high price not corresponding to the quality of the goods.
“The suspect MK ordered and/or approved the suspect EC to blend premium RON 88 refinery products with RON 92 Pertamax at the PT Orbit Terminal Merak storage terminal owned by the suspects MKAR and GRJ or sold at the price of RON 92,” said Harli in his statement, Thursday (27/2/2025).
“This is not in accordance with the procurement process of refinery products and the core business of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga,” he continued.
Then, the suspects MK and EC made payments for the import of refinery products that should have used the term method or direct selection of the futures time, resulting in a fair price.
“But in practice, it uses the spot method or direct appointment of the prevailing price at that time, so PT Pertamina Patra Niaga pays for refinery product imports at a high price to business partners or DMUT,” he explained.
Harli said that suspects MK and EC also knew about and approved the markup on the shipping contract carried out by suspect YF as the President Director of PT Pertamina Internasional Shipping, resulting in PT Pertamina Patra Niaga unlawfully paying fees of 13 percent to 15 percent.
“And the fee was given to the suspect MKAR as the Beneficial Owner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa and the suspect DW as the Commissioner of PT Navigator Khatulistiwa,” Harli emphasized.
