Researcher of the Anti-Corruption Study Center (Saksi) at Mulawarman University, East Kalimantan, Herdiansyah Hamzah, hopes that Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, also known as Ahok, can be open about Pertamina’s corruption practices related to crude oil management and refinery products. That hope was expressed considering that Ahok is currently being examined as a witness by the investigators of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (JAM-Pidsus) of the Attorney General’s Office, Thursday (13/3).
“Please let Ahok convey what he knows during the examination process at the Attorney General’s Office.” “Just convey everything there,” said Herdiansyah to Media Indonesia.
He also hopes that Ahok’s testimony will be accompanied by useful evidence during the investigation process. Because the significance of Ahok’s examination is determined by the influence of the evidence and facts he provides to the investigator. Moreover, continued Herdiansyah, Ahok has only been blabbering about the alleged corruption at Pertamina through podcast broadcasts. In fact, during his tenure as the chief commissioner, Ahok was deemed capable of reporting the irregularities occurring in the state-owned company to law enforcement agencies (APH).
“The problem is, where has Ahok been all this time?” “Why is he only talking now?” said Herdiansyah.
Upon arriving at the Kejagung Complex, Ahok said he was very happy to be asked for his statement by the investigators. “We are actually a subholding structurally, but of course, I am very happy to be able to assist the prosecutor’s office.” What I know, I will convey,” he said.

The JAM-Pidsus investigators have already named nine suspects in the corruption case involving the management of crude oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina (persero), sub-holding, and Contract of Work Contractors (KKKS) from 2018 to 2023. Based on preliminary calculations, the financial loss to the state resulting from these practices amounts to Rp193.7 trillion.
