Highlighting the Issue of Mixed Pertamax, Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives Asks Pertamina to Compensate Consumer Losses

Member of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Mufti Anam, highlighted the issue related to the discovery of adulterated Pertamax involving PT Pertamina and its sub-holding. Mufti Anam emphasized that the apology conveyed by Pertamina was not enough to cover the impact felt by consumers.
“The uproar over the adulterated Pertamax, in my opinion, is not enough with just an apology as if Pertamina’s sins are over.” Then what about the consumer losses? Is there any initiative from Pertamina to compensate for their losses?” said Mufti Anam during a hearing (RDP) with PT Pertamina and its sub-holding at the Nusantara I Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (11/3).
Furthermore, Mufti Anam emphasized that consumers buy fuel not for consumption, but for daily needs, such as commuting from home to the office.
“I can’t imagine if oxygen were then managed by Pertamina, it might be mixed with carbon dioxide,” he added.

This East Java II electoral district legislator also proposed that Pertamina utilize the My Pertamina application to provide compensation to consumers affected by the adulteration issue.
“Listen to the netizens, I think there’s some truth to it.” How to restore Pertamina’s integrity? They could, for example, give away Pertamax for free for a year. But that’s not possible. Or a week or a month. Or what can you do that is important for the people to feel that Pertamina is making an effort to provide improvements and apologize to the people,” he said.
Mufti Anam hopes that concrete steps will be taken by Pertamina to maintain public trust and restore the integrity of the state-owned company in the eyes of the community. On that occasion, Pertamina’s representatives were also asked to provide further explanation regarding the steps that will be taken to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future.
