Setyo Budiyanto has officially been elected as the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the 2024-2029 period. This figure, Inspector General of Police (Komjen) Pol, received full trust from the members of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) through a strict and transparent selection process. Setyo’s appointment is considered to reflect a strong commitment to eradicating corruption in Indonesia.
In the State Organizer Wealth Report (LHKPN), Setyo is recorded to have a wealth of Rp 9.6 billion without any debt. The majority of his assets consist of land, buildings, vehicles, and cash. This indicates Setyo as a public official with a clean financial track record.
The process of selecting the new KPK Chairman involves 10 selected candidates who undergo a series of fit and proper tests. With a strong background, experience, and transparent wealth, Setyo has become a figure expected to bring positive change to the anti-corruption agency.

The process of selecting the KPK Chairman for the 2024-2029 period involves various stages, starting from selection to feasibility testing. (fit and proper test). These stages aim to ensure that only individuals with high integrity are selected.
Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, as the selection committee, conducted a series of tests since early November 2024. Ten candidates for the KPK leadership who passed the administrative selection underwent a fit and proper test for three days, starting from November 18, 2024. In this session, each candidate was asked to present their vision and mission in front of the members of the DPR.
The process ended on November 21, 2024, when Commission III held a plenary meeting to determine the five names for the KPK leadership. Setyo Budiyanto was finally elected as the Chairman of the KPK after receiving majority support from the members of the DPR. “Setyo’s experience and strong network were the main reasons for his selection,” said the Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Habiburokhman.
