The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (Ditjen Hubud) of the Ministry of Transportation has announced the preparation of air transportation operation plans in anticipation of the Christmas and New Year holidays. (Nataru). This step aims to ensure the security, safety, and comfort of air transport service users during the long holiday period.
Acting Director General of Air Transportation, Lukman Laisa, explained that one of the main activities of the Directorate General of Air Transportation (Ditjen Hubud) is the implementation of Ramp Inspection. This activity is carried out to inspect the operational readiness of aircraft in accordance with the applicable implementation guidelines.

“Ramp Inspection will take place from December 17, 2024, to January 4, 2025, involving inspectors from each technical directorate.” “The aim is to ensure the safety and security of flights during the Nataru period,” said Lukman in a written statement in Jakarta, Monday (25/11/2024).
In addition, Lukman said, the Ministry of Transportation will also monitor 56 domestic airports with 266 routes and 17 international airports with 129 routes. To support smooth operations, the Nataru Post will start operating from December 19, 2024, to January 3, 2025.
According to Lukman, they predict that the number of passengers during the Nataru 2024/2025 period will approach pre-pandemic figures.
“We project a total of 3,912,224 passengers, with 3,048,148 domestic passengers and 864,076 international passengers. This figure shows an increase of about four percent compared to last year’s Nataru,” Lukman added.
Lukman estimates that the peak of the holiday traffic is expected to occur on December 21, 2024 (Christmas period) with 297,129 passengers, and on December 28, 2024 (New Year period) with 260,196 passengers. Meanwhile, the peak of the return traffic is predicted to be on January 3, 2025, with 259,816 passengers. Lukman also emphasized the importance of readiness from all related parties.
“We urge airport operators and airlines to increase air transport capacity, adjust slot times, extend airport operating hours, and arrange additional slots,” said Lukman.
Lukman emphasized the importance of maintaining safety protocols by preparing contingency plans to anticipate accidents and natural disasters. With these measures, Lukman hopes that air transportation during the 2024/2025 Christmas and New Year period will run smoothly and meet the needs of the public.
