Three students were involved in a traffic accident that resulted in one fatality on the main road of Negara Nabung Village, Sukadana District, East Lampung Regency. The accident involved a Honda Beat motorcycle without a license plate and a concrete mixer truck with the license plate BE 8068 FU.
The Head of Traffic Police at Lampung Timur Police, AKP Glend Felix Siagian, confirmed the incident and mentioned that one of the victims, Julia Hapzah, died at the scene. “Yes, it’s true, one victim who was riding as a passenger on a Honda Beat motorcycle without a license plate, Julia Hapzah, died,” said AKP Glend when confirmed, Tuesday (26/11/2024).
Based on witness statements, the accident began when the victim, Reli Putri (16), was riding a Honda Beat motorcycle with two of her friends, Intan Fisian Maharatu (16) and Julia Hapzah, from the direction of Gedung Dalam towards Sukadana. Upon arriving at the scene, a concrete mixer truck that was initially traveling in tandem suddenly overtook the motorcycle. As a result, the motorcycle ridden by the three students lost control and fell. “When they fell, the victims were hit by the concrete mixer truck, causing the accident,” he explained.
As a result of this accident, Julia Hapzah died at the scene, while her two companions, Reli Putri and Intan Fisian Maharatu, only sustained minor injuries. “The truck driver has been secured and is currently undergoing further investigation,” he added.
From the incident, the estimated material loss reached around Rp3 million. The police have also secured both vehicles involved in the accident as evidence. “The investigation is still ongoing, and we urge drivers to be more cautious on the road,” he concluded.
