Chairman of the Jakarta KPU, Wahyu Dinata, acknowledged that based on the evaluation of the voting that took place on November 27, 2024, it was observed that several polling stations (TPS) were not very crowded. According to him, there is a possibility of a decrease in voter participation compared to the Presidential Election. (Pilpres).
“Indeed, according to our monitoring, the flow of voters at the polling stations is somewhat sparse, but we do not yet know the exact figures for the participation rate. However, it is true that local elections tend to have lower participation rates compared to presidential elections,” said Wahyu during a press conference at the Jakarta KPU Office, Thursday (28/11/2024).
Wahyu explained that the participation rate in the 2007 regional elections was around 65 percent, in 2012 it was 65 percent, and then in 2017 it increased to over 70 percent.
He assured that the Jakarta KPU is currently conducting a vote recount to determine the exact number of voter participation in the Jakarta Gubernatorial Election 2024. If the results show a decline, it will be noted and evaluated for the next Jakarta Gubernatorial Election.

“Of course, we will conduct an evaluation if there is indeed a decline in participation rates.” Whether it is indeed caused by our programs being less effective in the community, or if there are certain conditions, because I have coordinated with some friends in other provinces, and other provinces are also experiencing less than satisfactory participation,” he concluded.
