KPU: 6 KPPS Officers Died While on Duty in the 2024 Pilkada

The General Election Commission (KPU) reported that six officers from the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) died while carrying out their duties in the 2024 Regional Election. This data comes from the recapitulation results in 37 provinces and 508 districts/cities that held the regional elections.

“Based on data up to November 29, 2024, at 00:00 WIB, there were 6 TPS or KPPS officers recorded as deceased,” stated the Chairman of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU RI), Mochammad Afifudin, during a press conference at the KPU RI office on Friday (29/11).

In addition, the KPU also reported that there were several KPPS officers who fell ill or had work-related accidents, totaling 115 people.

Afif explained that KPPS officers who pass away or are injured will receive compensation according to the provisions set forth in the letter from the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) that has been approved.

“Death (compensation) of Rp36 million, burial assistance of Rp10 million, for permanent disability Rp30.8 million, serious injury Rp16.5 million, and moderate injury Rp8.25 million,” he explained.

The KPU also expressed condolences to the families of the KPPS officers who died while on duty, while also appreciating their dedication in successfully conducting the Pilkada.
