The Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade, and Economic Development of Canada, Mary Ng, is leading Canada’s largest trade mission to Indonesia and the Philippines from December 1 to 6, 2024.
“This visit is an extraordinary opportunity to assist the people of Canada and strengthen economic ties with the dynamic markets in the Indo-Pacific,” said Mary Ng during her visit on Monday (December 2, 2024).
Mary Ng also added that this mission involves more than 300 representatives from 190 Canadian companies to expand business opportunities in Southeast Asia.
Indonesia, which is Canada’s 22nd largest trading partner, recorded a total trade value of 5.7 billion Canadian dollars in 2023. “In the field of energy, we will showcase Canadian expertise, including very important sustainability experience,” added Ng.

In line with Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, this mission is expected to strengthen relations with ASEAN countries to promote inclusive, sustainable, and mutually beneficial trade among each other.
Mary mentioned that in this trade mission, they involved more than 300 business actors from Canada. This demonstrates a tangible proof of their trust in the great potential of the Indonesian market.
“More than 300 people, which really shows that the trust in Indonesia for this trade mission is very real. You can feel it,” he said.
