Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf requested that the social assistance (bansos) labeled ‘Vice President Gibran’s Assistance’ not be debated. According to him, there is no issue with the provision of bansos from Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
“Yes, in my opinion, there is no problem. There is no problem, later everyone will know the government program, or from private parties, everyone will know.” “So there’s no need to debate it,” said Minister of Social Affairs Gus Ipul, as he is commonly called, to reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, Monday (2/12/2024).
He said that social assistance for the community can be provided by anyone, starting from the Ministry of Social Affairs, other ministries, to the Vice President. Gus Ipul stated that the most important thing is not the source of the social assistance, but the benefits of the aid.
“The important thing is the benefit, that’s the main thing. The benefit for the community is what matters,” he said.
When asked about the source of Gibran’s social assistance funds, Gus Ipul admitted he did not know.
“I don’t know yet, I don’t know yet,” he concluded.
Previously, a video circulated on social media showing flood victims in Kebon Pala, Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta, receiving assistance from Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
The food aid was placed in goodie bags labeled ‘Vice President Gibran’s Aid’. The light blue goodie bags, featuring an image of the Vice Presidential Palace, contained rice, cooking oil, sugar, and tea.
From the video, a resident named Juriah mentioned that it was her first time receiving assistance from the youngest child of the 7th president, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
Reportedly, besides Kampung Melayu, Gibran also inspected other flood-affected areas, such as Bidara Cina and Cawang.
