Police Prepare Evacuation Routes Anticipating Disturbances During the Plenary Session of the Rohul Pilkada Vote Recap

Pekanbaru – The Rokan Hulu District Election Commission (Rohul) is conducting a vote recapitulation and a plenary meeting to determine the elected regional head on December 3, 2024. Scheduled to last until December 4, 2024, the local police have prepared a maximum security scheme.

The Rohul Police Department has deployed hundreds of personnel stationed at various points. Evacuation routes for relevant officials have also been prepared in case of disturbances during the 2024 Pilkada plenary session.

Previously, to ensure the readiness of the Police Department, the Riau Police sent supervising officer AKBP Eko Wimpiyanto Hardjito. Together with the Police Chief AKBP Budi Setiyono SIK, Eko inspected Hotel Sapadia, the location where the plenary session will take place.

To Eko, Budi mentioned that he had prepared an exit route for the safety of the simultaneous Pilkada organizers such as the KPU, Bawaslu, and KPU plenary session participants.

“This exit route is also intended for the candidates present and their campaign teams,” said Budi.

Those parties are directed to use the stairs on the right side of the meeting room in case of a disturbance that threatens safety. That route leads to the first floor of the hotel.

“Not only disturbances but also anticipation in case of natural disasters and other calamities,” said Eko.

The elevator leading to the plenary meeting room was also closed by the police. Hotel guests or visitors were asked to use other elevators for smoother and safer access.

The corridor in front of the hotel entrance did not escape the attention of the police. The corridor located right in front of the plenary session entrance was filled with personnel to ensure that only authorized individuals could enter the area.

“The goal is to prevent unauthorized individuals from entering, and security in the hotel lobby has also been tightened,” explained Budi.

Budi asked his members to be more meticulous with visitors who wish to enter the hotel. Every visitor who wants to attend the plenary meeting must have access or an official ID card from the KPU.

“Hopefully, this security will provide a sense of safety for the meeting participants and other visitors,” said Budi.
