Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned former Semarang Mayor Hendrar Prihadi as a witness in the alleged corruption case within the Semarang City Government.
“There was an invitation, I had to testify about several matters in the Semarang City Government,” said Hendrar at the KPK Red and White Building, South Jakarta, Tuesday (3/12/2024) as reported by Antara.
The candidate for Deputy Governor of Central Java was reluctant to detail the subjects that the investigators asked him about. According to him, he received an invitation from the KPK to provide clarification on several matters related to the Semarang City Government.
“Yes, several activities in Semarang when I was the mayor,” he said.
Hendrar was questioned by the KPK from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM WIB and he emphasized that he was only being questioned as a witness.
“Basically, I was asked to provide a statement as a witness,” he said.
Investigation
On July 17, 2024, the KPK announced the commencement of an investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of goods or services within the Semarang City Government, Central Java.
The investigation conducted by the KPK is regarding the alleged criminal acts of corruption in the procurement of goods or services within the Semarang City Government from 2023 to 2024.
In addition, there are allegations of extortion against civil servants regarding tax collection incentives and regional levies in Semarang City, as well as allegations of receiving gratuities from 2023 to 2024.
KPK investigators have also named several individuals as suspects in the case. However, they have not yet provided further information regarding the identities of these individuals.
In accordance with KPK policy, the identities and the construction of the corruption case will be disclosed after the investigation is complete.
