Samarinda-One village in the Province of East Kalimantan (Kaltim) successfully won a national-level public information disclosure award in 2024. It is Batuah Village in Kukar Regency that secured the fourth position nationally in the 2024 Village Information Openness event.
The achievement of Batuah Village also marks three consecutive years of having a village in East Kalimantan ranked among the top 10 nationally as the best village in implementing public information transparency.
Before Batuah Village, there was Tengin Baru Village, Penajam Paser Utara Regency (PPU), which was in the top 10 nationally for Village Public Information Disclosure in 2022. Then, Bhuana Jaya Village, Kutai Kartanegara Regency (Kukar), which achieved 4th place in the central Indonesia region in the 2023 Village Public Information Disclosure Award.
This Village Information Openness event is in line with the mandate of Law No. 14 of 2008 on Public Information Openness, which aims to encourage active public participation in policy-making and to enhance the transparency and quality of information services in public bodies.
The implementation of public information openness assessments for village governments is conducted regularly every year by the Central Information Commission (KI). The inclusion of villages in East Kalimantan in the top 10 national rankings for public information openness assessments at the national level demonstrates the local government’s commitment to achieving public information transparency.
The Acting (Pj) Governor of East Kalimantan, Akmal Malik, stated that they continue to implement various policy innovations in the application of public information openness in the villages. One of them is through the innovation of PPID and LAPOR Masuk Desa. This involves the utilization of information and documentation management as well as digital public complaint services.
“This innovation is the first of its kind implemented by a province in Indonesia,” said Akmal Malik while attending the Public Test of Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) of Public Information Disclosure for the Year 2024.
