Solo – The 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), spoke out regarding the Golkar Party, which has stated it would welcome with open arms if the former Governor of DKI Jakarta and his family were to join as cadres of the party symbolized by the banyan tree. The offer arose after Jokowi was no longer considered part of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle. (PDI).
Jokowi acknowledged that he had communicated with senior members of the Golkar Party. However, the communication he had did not yet involve discussions regarding his status as a cadre of the party led by Bahlil Lahadalia. “Yes, all parties are open.” “With (Golkar) not yet. Yes, there has been communication, but not yet,” said Jokowi at his home on Thursday (9/12/2024).
Then, when asked whether he was still considering which political party to join after no longer being regarded as a cadre by PDIP, the former Mayor of Solo was reluctant to explain further. “Yes, still an individual party,” he said with a small laugh.
Since the PDIP no longer considers him a cadre, the father of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka admitted that he still keeps his membership card (KTA) as a cadre of the party led by Megawati Soekarnoputri. Whether Jokowi will immediately return the PDIP membership card, he did not want to answer. “Thank you,” Jokowi said when asked about the fate of the PDIP membership card while walking away from the journalists.
The Door of Golkar is Open for Jokowi

Previously, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) had confirmed that the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Bobby Nasution are no longer members of the party.
In response to this, the Golkar Party stated that they are ready to welcome the former Governor of Jakarta with open arms if he decides to join.”Mr. Jokowi is a free and independent person, he is free to make his own choices.” “I believe Mr. Jokowi will certainly consider many factors before joining a political party,” said Golkar’s Secretary-General, Sarmuji, in Jakarta, Thursday (5/12/2024).
Sarmuji emphasized that Golkar would welcome Jokowi with open arms, just as they welcome anyone who wishes to join.
“That Mr. Jokowi, after weighing and contemplating, then deciding to choose Golkar, for example, of course, Golkar will welcome him with open arms just as Golkar welcomes others,” he explained.
Sarmuji believes that Jokowi still has a significant influence in society.
“We accept ordinary people openly, let alone a former president, a past president whom we believe still has significant influence in society,” said Sarmuji.
He added that Golkar has not yet initiated communication with Jokowi to invite him to join, although the Golkar Chairman, Bahlil Lahadalia, has a good relationship with Jokowi.
