Sukoharjo – Sad news comes from Persib Bandung. One of their supporters passed away after being involved in a single-vehicle accident on the Solo-Yogyakarta road, precisely north of the Pucangan Baru Housing Gate, Kartasura District, Sukoharjo Regency.
The victim was identified as Mochammad Fathir Fauzan Maulana (21), a resident of Mekar Rahayu Village, Margahayu District, Bandung Regency. It is suspected that the victim was heading to Manahan Stadium in Solo to watch the match between PSS Sleman and Persib Bandung.
The head of the Traffic Law Enforcement Unit of the Sukoharjo Police, Iptu Guntur Setiawan, said that the fatal accident occurred on Monday (9/12) around 6:00 PM WIB.
“The victim was a supporter of Persib Bandung,” said Guntur when contacted by detikJateng, Tuesday (10/12/2024).
The incident began when the victim was riding a Honda Beat motorcycle from the south (Jogja) towards the north (Solo). The victim was riding in the right lane.
“Upon reaching the scene, the rider allegedly lost control of their vehicle, causing them to fall face down on the median along with the motorcycle they were riding.” Yes (single-vehicle accident),” he explained.
“The accident location is on the Solo-Yogya Highway, precisely north of the Perum Pucangan Baru gate, Kartasura District,” added Guntur.
As a result of the accident, the victim sustained serious injuries, primarily to the head. The victim had blood coming from the mouth and nose, a torn chin, scraped right knee, swollen eyes, and a torn tongue.
“The victim passed away at Yarsis Hospital in Kartasura,” he concluded.
Ended in Chaos
Meanwhile, during the match between PSS Sleman and Persib Bandung in the 13th week of Liga 1 2024/2025 at Manahan Stadium, Solo, a riot broke out among the supporters. This was because the Persib supporters, as the visiting team, dared to come to Manahan Stadium.
One of the Persib Bandung supporters, Arden, said that during the match, he and his friends were in the eastern stand. Initially, the match was proceeding smoothly until Persib turned the score around to 1-2.
“After Persib took a 1-2 lead, chaos ensued as Sleman supporters clashed with Bandung fans,” said Arden to the media at Manahan Stadium, Monday (9/12).
Not stopping there, the commotion continued outside the stadium. Several Persib Bandung supporters were chased, resulting in some being injured.
“Outside the stadium, a commotion occurred, and on our side, someone was taken to the hospital. The chaos might have been triggered by the changing positions,” he said.
Arden said he dared to come to Solo because when Persib faced Persebaya and Persija, the supporters welcomed each other. In fact, according to PT LIB regulations, Liga 1 still prohibits the attendance of visiting team supporters.
“From Jakarta to Surabaya, it was well-received and could be attended. Actually, Bandung and Sleman are fine,” he said.
Police Response
Solo Police Chief Kombes Iwan Saktiadi said that around a thousand Persib Bandung supporters came. His team has set up blockades and detained the arriving Persib supporters, so that only PSS supporters entered the stadium.
“Earlier, we suspected that around a thousand Persib supporters were present at Manahan Stadium, although most of them were detained and not allowed to enter. We conducted sweeps outside. We ensured that those who entered were supporters from Sleman,” said Iwan.
Iwan explained that the SOP for securing the Liga 1 match had been carried out in accordance with the Police Chief’s Regulation. However, in this match, several Persib supporters managed to obtain tickets and enter the stadium.
To investigate how Persib supporters could obtain tickets, Iwan said they have secured at least five supporter coordinators for questioning.
“We have secured and obtained initial statements from several coordinators who claimed to have received tickets from certain individuals. We are currently investigating how they obtained a significant number of tickets.” Which they should not have received because of their status as a guest team,” he explained.
