Minahasa – The Opsnal Team of the Ditresnarkoba Polda Sulut, in collaboration with the Satresnarkoba Team of the Minahasa Police, apprehended a man, a suspect in the distribution of methamphetamine, in Minahasa Regency, Sulut.
“The suspect with the initials ALB (36) was apprehended on the night of Monday, December 2, 2024, in the Tataaran Patar Village, Tondano Selatan District, Minahasa Regency,” stated the Head of Public Relations of Polda Sulut, Kombes Pol Michael Irwan Thamsil, on Friday afternoon (December 6, 2024).
The police also secured several pieces of evidence, namely 7 small packages of methamphetamine weighing a total of 8 grams, 50 clear plastic clips, 1 cellphone, 1 glass pipette, and 1 scale.
The arrest of the suspect was based on information from the community about the circulation of methamphetamine in the Minahasa Regency area.
“Upon receiving the information, the team immediately moved to the scene and arrested the suspect who was storing methamphetamine at his residence. The suspect admitted that the methamphetamine belonged to him and was ready to be distributed,” he said.
The man from Manado also admitted that before being caught, he had distributed methamphetamine on October 20, 2024, amounting to 20 grams.
The perpetrator packaged the methamphetamine into small packets and then left them in certain places for buyers to pick up.
“One small package is sold for Rp2.2 million. So, the perpetrator and the buyer do not meet each other,” revealed Kombes Pol Michael Irwan Thamsil.
The Director of the Narcotics Unit of the North Sulawesi Regional Police, Kombes Pol Budi Samekto, added that the suspect is charged under Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
“Life imprisonment or imprisonment for a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 20 years, and a fine of at least Rp 1 billion and at most Rp 10 billion,” he said.
