Jakarta – Minister of Investment and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, stated that Apple wants the investment of USD 1 billion to materialize by 2026, but the Indonesian government hopes that the realization of the investment can start sooner, namely in 2025.
“From the Ministry of Industry, they also want the realization to start in 2025. From them, the investment realization is 2026. It’s just a matter of timing,” said Rosan when met after the 2024 National Investment Coordination Meeting in Jakarta, Wednesday (11/12/2024).
Similarly, the Ministry of Industry also hopes that the construction of production facilities can start in 2025, so as to accelerate technology transfer and create a more mature ecosystem to support the technology industry in Indonesia.
“Well, now we are pushing for it to be realized by 2025. But, they have already communicated it to us in writing,” he said.
Furthermore, Rosan stated that communication with Apple has been intensive, despite the time zone differences. Apple has provided written information regarding the investment they will undertake, including details about the form of investment and the vendors that will collaborate in Indonesia.

Apple has conveyed several important points in their investment plan. One of them is Apple’s commitment to bringing major vendors to Indonesia, which is estimated to generate an investment value of up to USD 1 billion.
“The points are already there, the form of investment, then the vendors they will bring here, and for the investment, the purchases up to USD 1 billion have also been included,” he said.
According to Rosan, Apple also hopes to produce components for the iPhone 16 in Indonesia, involving more than 320 vendors to support the production of the device.
However, this process is still in the “fine-tuning” stage, where the relevant ministries, especially the Ministry of Industry, are discussing the technical implementation of this investment.
“Well, we have already provided the technical aspects to the Ministry of Industry. And, since we are also doing some fine-tuning because we know they want the iPhone 16 to be operational here during the investment,” he concluded.
