Bahlil: Prabowo and Gibran to Attend the Peak of Golkar’s Anniversary, Jokowi Still Awaited

Jakarta – The Chairman of the Golkar Party, Bahlil Lahadalia, confirmed that the elected President Prabowo Subianto and the elected Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka are scheduled to attend the peak celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Golkar Party, which will be held at the Sentul International Convention Center (SICC), Bogor, West Java on Thursday (12/12/2024).

“God willing, according to the schedule, Mr. Prabowo will be present. God willing, the Vice President and several other figures will also be present,” said Bahlil after the Technical Guidance (Bimtek) event for members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) from the Golkar Party Fraction (FPG) for the 2024-2029 period in Jakarta, Wednesday (11/12/2024).

When asked about the presence of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the event, Bahlil only asked for prayers.

“Pray for us,” he said.

Bahlil also responded to speculation regarding the issue that Jokowi will join the Golkar Party and receive a special position. However, he avoided giving further comments.

“Don’t keep asking me about what others say. I’m sorry,” he said.

Furthermore, Bahlil assured that the Golkar Party has also invited all party chairpersons to attend the peak anniversary event.

“Oh, they are invited. We have invited all the party chairpersons,” he asserted.

The Door of Golkar is Wide Open for Jokowi

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has confirmed that the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Bobby Nasution are no longer members of the party.

In response to this, the Golkar Party stated that it is ready to welcome the former Governor of Jakarta with open arms if he decides to join.

“Mr. Jokowi is a free and independent person, he is free to make his own choices. I believe Mr. Jokowi will certainly consider many factors before joining a political party,” said Golkar’s Secretary-General, Sarmuji, in Jakarta, Thursday (5/12/2024).

Sarmuji emphasized that Golkar would welcome Jokowi with open arms, just as they welcome anyone who wants to join.

“That Mr. Jokowi, after considering and reflecting, then deciding to choose Golkar, for example, of course, Golkar will welcome him with open arms just as Golkar welcomes others,” he explained.

Sarmuji believes that Jokowi still has a significant influence in society.

“Ordinary people we accept openly, let alone a former president, a past president whom we believe still has significant influence in society,” said Sarmuji.

He added that Golkar has not yet initiated communication with Jokowi to invite him to join, although the Golkar Chairman, Bahlil Lahadalia, has a good relationship with Jokowi.
