KPU: Voter Turnout in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections at 71 Percent

Jakarta, the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia stated that the voter turnout rate for the Simultaneous Regional Elections 2024 is 71 percent for the national average. This is based on the recapitulation results and the 2024 Regional Election data submitted to the KPU RI.

“We also convey that more and more recaps and data are coming in.” “Our participation, which was previously questioned, as of December 4th, has now reached a national average of 71 percent,” said the Chairman of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU RI), Mochammad Afifuddin, at a press conference on Friday (13/12/2024).

According to him, the increase in voter participation in the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections compared to previous calculations is due to the entry of new regional-level recapitulations, particularly in the Papua region.

“So this also explains the previous news related to us, because of participation due to some incoming data, especially from the Papua region,” he explained.

Previously, Afifuddin in a hearing with Commission II of the DPR on Wednesday (4/12), revealed that voter participation in the 2024 Pilkada reached 68 percent.

“In our view, that is already extraordinary amidst stages like these.” “Of course, we are very grateful for all the participation from many parties, the voters who have exercised their right to vote,” he said.

On Wednesday (5/6), the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU RI) revealed that 81.78 percent of voters exercised their voting rights in the 2024 Presidential Election, followed by 81.42 percent for the House of Representatives Election, and 81.36 percent for the Regional Representative Council Election.
