Jakarta – Deputy Chairman of Commission V of the PKB Faction of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Syaiful Huda, urged the government to optimize the infrastructure projects that have been built. Thus, the infrastructure projects will truly impact the economic growth of the surrounding communities.
That statement was made by Huda in response to President Prabowo Subianto’s directive, which requested that infrastructure projects should open up connectivity, thereby accelerating development and economic growth for the surrounding communities.
The directive was conveyed by President Prabowo during the inauguration of the Madukoro Flyover in Semarang, Central Java, on Wednesday (11/12/2024). The project, which has been underway since 2023, consumed a budget of up to Rp 198.9 billion.
“We agree with President Prabowo Subianto’s statement that infrastructure projects must spur the economic growth of the community,” explained Syaiful Huda.
The Chairman of the West Java DPW PKB said that the infrastructure projects that have been built consumed a very large budget. The budget used for the construction of these projects comes from the people’s money.
Therefore, Huda continued, the community must feel the impact and benefits of the development. We should not let it be that after the project is completed, the people do not gain any advantages or benefits.
“Every rupiah of the people’s money must be used for the benefit of the people,” he explained.
Huda then highlighted several projects that have already been completed but have not yet been optimally utilized, so the community has not felt the positive impact.
For example, Kertajati International Airport. According to him, the airport that has been inaugurated since July 1, 2019, has not yet been optimally utilized, thus it has not succeeded in triggering development and economic growth.
“Therefore, Kertajati Airport must be optimized, so that the community can truly feel the benefits of that infrastructure project,” he explained.
Various ministries and related agencies must sit together to discuss the future of Kertajati Airport and strategize to optimize the infrastructure.
Highlight the Jatigede Dam

In addition to Kertajati Airport, Huda also highlighted the infrastructure project of the Jatigede Dam located in Sumedang Regency, West Java. Recently, Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) inspected the dam.
The project has indeed benefited the community, but the ones who gained the most are the residents from other areas. Meanwhile, the people living around the reservoir have not received any benefits. In fact, the surrounding community struggles with clean water.
“Therefore, we ask the government to optimize all the projects that have already been built,” he concluded.
