Jakarta – The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) officially expelled Gibran Rakabuming Raka from party membership. The dismissal was announced directly by the Chairman of the PDIP Honorary Board, Komarudin Watubun.
He revealed the Decree (SK) No 1650/KPTS/DPP/XII/2024 regarding the dismissal of Gibran Rakabuming Raka from the membership of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle.
The letter was signed by the Chairperson of PDI Perjuangan, Megawati Soekarnoputri, and the Secretary-General of DPP PDIP, Hasto Kristiyanto, which was issued in Jakarta on December 4, 2024.
As for the letter, it contains several points. Komarudin mentioned, among other things, the dismissal of Gibran Rakabuming. Raka
“Imposing an organizational sanction in the form of expulsion on Gibran Rakabuming Raka from the membership of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle,” he said in his statement on Monday (16/12/2024).
Komarudin said that Gibran is prohibited from carrying out activities and holding any positions in the name of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle.
This decree is effective from the date it is issued, and if any errors are found in the future, it will be reviewed and corrected as appropriate.
He assured that the DPP PDI Perjuangan will be accountable for this decision letter at the upcoming congress.
Komarudin conveyed this after receiving direct orders from the Chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle.
The Secretary-General (Sekjen) of the DPP PDI Perjuangan, Hasto Kristiyanto, previously answered questions regarding the membership status of the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution. Hasto emphasized that the three of them are no longer part of the PDI Perjuangan.
“I reiterate that Mr. Jokowi and his family are no longer part of PDI Perjuangan,” said Hasto at a press conference held at the PDIP Party School, Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, Wednesday (12/4/2024).
Furthermore, Hasto explained that Jokowi’s actions are considered not in line with the party’s ideals that have been fought for since the era of Sukarno or Bung Karno.

“So that is what happened.” “And then we see how the ambition for power never really stops,” said Hasto.
The same goes for Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Bobby Nasution. Hasto said that when they were nominated by other political parties and also endorsed by Jokowi.
Moreover, Gibran’s rise as vice president through a process that violates the constitution and democracy, said Hasto, automatically renders the status of all membership components related to PDIP null and void.
“Why?” Because PDI Perjuangan is driven by an ideal. And this was proven by the sending of a letter from the DPC of Surakarta City, where Mr. Gibran’s KTA originated, informing that based on the political party law and party contributions, his membership automatically ceased,” said Hasto Kristiyanto.
