Jakarta – The Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN), Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas), has instructed all PAN cadres to help realize President Prabowo Subianto’s vision regarding food self-sufficiency.
Because, that aspiration has already been expressed by President Prabowo Subianto during the MPR RI Plenary Session after being inaugurated as President for the 2024-2029 term and was also mentioned at the G20 world forum some time ago.
“Because President Prabowo said there should be food self-sufficiency by 2028 during the MPR Plenary Session.” Going to APEC G20, the food self-sufficiency target changed again to 2027,” said Zulhas at the National Mandate Party Workshop themed ‘At the Forefront of Realizing Food Sovereignty’ in Surabaya, Thursday, December 19, 2024.
According to Zulhas, that aspiration must be realized. Especially now, the agricultural sector still does not receive serious attention. Only during President Prabowo’s era did the agricultural sector receive more attention from the government.
“We have been in the Reformation for 29 or 28 years today.” Do you all realize that the most neglected and least attended sectors are agriculture, livestock, and fishermen? “This is the most neglected sector,” said Zulhas.
Contribution of the Agricultural Sector

Zulhas said that before the Reformasi era, the agricultural sector actually received more attention. In fact, the contribution to that sector reached 67 percent.
“During Pak Harto’s time (President Suharto), the contribution of the agricultural sector to the workforce was 67 percent.” So if there are 100 workers, 67 of them are in the agriculture, fisheries, and plantation sectors,” said Zulhas.
Zulhas, who is also the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, is grateful that during President Prabowo’s era, more attention is being given to the agricultural sector.
“Thank you to President Prabowo.” Because food is the main priority program,” concluded Zulhas.
