Gunungkidul – The Gunungkidul District Attorney’s Office (Kejari) officially detained the head of Sampang village, Kapanewon Gedangsari, with the initials SHM, in connection with the alleged misuse of Village Land Fund (TKD). The detention was carried out at Wirogunan Prison, Yogyakarta, to facilitate the trial process that will be held at the Yogyakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor).
The Head of the Special Crimes Section (Kasi Pidsus) of the Gunungkidul District Attorney’s Office, Sendy Wardana Putra, explained that SHM is suspected of granting permission to a mining company to conduct mining activities in the TKD without following the proper procedures. “The suspect’s role as the highest leader in Sampang Village was to create opportunities or grant permission to the mining company to use government land, namely TKD,” said Sendy.
SHM is charged with three articles under the Corruption Eradication Law: Article 2 Paragraph 1 junto Article 18 with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, Article 3 junto Article 18 and Article 55 with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison, and Article 11 related to gratification with a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison.
Based on the inspectorate’s audit, the state’s losses due to SHM’s actions are estimated to reach Rp506 million. In this case, the prosecutor’s office has secured 120 documents related to TKD as evidence. Sendy revealed the modus operandi employed by SHM, including requesting an advance payment of Rp100 million from the mining party, although in the end, he only received Rp40 million. To disguise the flow of funds, SHM did not use a personal account, but rather his nephew’s account.
“This cunning trick was done to deceive the officers.” The suspect asked his nephew to open a special account to hold money from mining entrepreneurs.Other suspects are likely to follow. Next, we will examine the mining company involved in this case,” he added.
This case began with illegal mining of TKD in Kalurahan Sampang for the national Jogja-Solo toll road project. Around 24,000 cubic meters of soil, equivalent to the load of 2,400 trucks, were excavated without permission. If converted to Indonesian rupiah, the value of the land reaches Rp560 million. This case has long been a concern for the people of Gunungkidul, considering that TKD should be used for public interest. The detention of SHM is expected to be the first step in the thorough investigation of this case. “We hope this detention serves as a deterrent and also reminds us of the importance of transparency and accountability in village asset management,” concluded Sendy.
The detention of SHM is a firm step by the Gunungkidul District Attorney’s Office in combating corruption. The public is now awaiting the trial results at the Yogyakarta Corruption Court to ensure justice is served and to uncover any possible involvement of other parties in this case.
