Jakarta -The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled to interrogate former General Election Commission (KPU) commissioner Wahyu Setiawan today, Thursday (2/1/2025).
“The examination was conducted at the KPK Red and White Building under the name WS, former KPU member for the 2017-2022 period,” said KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardika Sugiarto in her statement.
Wahyu was examined as a witness in the bribery case of the appointment of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2019-2024 period and obstruction of the investigation with the suspect Hasto Kristiyanto.
“Examination of witnesses in the Corruption Crime (TPK) case related to the bribery of the appointment of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2019-2024 period and obstruction of the investigation with suspect HK,” said Tessa.
The investigation of Wahyu has actually happened before, not just this time. he was also previously questioned by investigators in the case of the hunt for Harun Masiku.
During the interrogation, Wahyu admitted that he was questioned about Harun’s whereabouts. He also expressed his readiness to assist the KPK in searching for Harun.
The KPK named Hasto Kristiyanto as a suspect in the bribery case of Harun Masiku’s Replacement in Office (PAW) through former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan. This is as stated in the letter of investigation order (Sprindik) issued on December 23, 2024.
“With the description of the corruption case indictment involving the suspect HK (Hasto Kristiyanto) along with HM (Harun Masiku) and associates, in the form of gifts and promises to Wahyu, as a member of the KPU along with Agustiani related to the appointment of DPR RI members,” said KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto on Wednesday, December 24, 2024.
In addition to the bribery case, Hasto has also been named a suspect in another crime, namely obstruction of justice. In this case, Hasto had ordered Harun to cover his tracks by submerging his phone and fleeing.
“That on January 8, 2020, during the KPK’s sting operation, Mr. HK instructed Nur Hasan (the caretaker of the aspiration house on Jalan Sutan Syahrir no 12 A, which is usually used as an office by Mr. HK) to call Harun Masiku to submerge his phone in water and flee immediately,” said KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto at a press conference at the KPK Building, Jakarta, Tuesday (24/12).
