Jakarta – The Spokesperson for the DPP PDI Perjuangan (PDIP), Mohamad Guntur Romli, revealed the reason why PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto did not provide a statement to the media after being questioned by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Monday, January 13, 2025.
Guntur mentioned that Hasto fully entrusted it to the Legal Counsel.
“That the Secretary-General of PDI Perjuangan, Hasto Kristiyanto, did not provide statements to the media as he was being examined by the KPK because it was already related to the investigation materials, so it has become the realm of law enforcement. Regarding legal matters, Mas Hasto fully hands it over to the Legal Counsel,” said Guntur in his statement, Wednesday (15/1/2025).
According to Guntur, Hasto wants to imitate PDIP Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri when facing legal cases.
“Mas Hasto also mimicked the strategy of Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri during the New Order era when being questioned by the police; he gave a press statement before being questioned, but after finishing the questioning and leaving the police station, he fully handed it over to his legal counsel,” he said.
Although he mentioned that the case involving Hasto is rife with political overtones, Guntur assured that Hasto abides by the law and is preparing a serious legal defense.
“Although Mas Hasto sees the case against him as having a stronger political aroma, because Mas Hasto is not a state organizer and there is no state loss whatsoever in this case, but because of Mas Hasto’s vocal and critical political stance regarding the destruction of democracy and the constitution by Jokowi and his family, Mas Hasto remains focused and serious in defending himself from a legal standpoint,” said the PDIP spokesperson in conclusion.
