Jakarta 3-kilogram (Kg) LPG retailers are now struggling to supply gas due to the government’s new policy. This has sparked controversy.
Regarding this matter, Member of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Imas Aan Ubudiah, requested that the restructuring of the LPG trade be prepared more thoroughly so as not to harm the public.
“We believe that the restructuring of the LPG 3-kilogram trade was not well-prepared, which triggered public panic.” “In recent days, we have received reports from the public that they are having difficulty purchasing 3-kilogram LPG,” he explained in his statement on Monday (February 3, 2025).
This PKB politician said that all this time the gas has been sold far above the highest retail price.
“Indeed, this 3-kilogram LPG gas is specifically intended for low-income residents at a price of Rp12,000.” Although the fact is that users of this gas also come from affluent residents and it is sold in the market at around Rp20,000-Rp25,000,” Imas revealed.
He also views the sales through the official base as sudden. The reason is that many people have not heard of the regulation.
Imas also criticized the government for just opening registration for citizens who intend to become official bases.
“This means it’s too late, the purchasing rules at the official base have already been implemented, but the residents or traders who will become the official base have not yet been determined,” he explained.

Imas emphasized that the regulation on purchasing LPG through official bases must not harm the community. So far, the purchase of LPG up to the retail level has greatly helped the community, as they can meet the community’s needs 24 hours a day.
“Although the price is relatively high due to the long distribution chain, the presence of these retailers is quite helpful because they are on standby 24 hours.” Well, can it be like that at the official base?” he concluded.
