Police Investigate Fatal Accident at Ciawi Toll Gate that Killed 8 People


Jakarta – The police conducted a crime scene investigation (TKP) of a series of accidents at the Ciawi Toll Gate, Bogor City, on Wednesday (5/2/2025). In this incident, eight people were killed and 11 were injured.
Head of the National Police Traffic Corps Brigadier General Agus Suryo stated that they have deployed a Traffic Accident Analysis (TAA) team to conduct a crime scene investigation of the fatal accident at the Ciawi Toll Gate, which occurred on Tuesday (February 4, 2025) at midnight.

“The West Java Police and the National Police Traffic Corps conducted a crime scene investigation around 09:00 AM WIB, including deepening witness testimonies at the scene and studying CCTV footage to understand the incident,” said Agus at Ciawi Regional Hospital.
He said that the crime scene investigation was to determine the cause of the chain collision involving seven vehicles at the Ciawi Toll Gate towards Jakarta.

“Whether this traffic accident is suspected to be caused by high speed, brake failure, or perhaps drowsiness, that will be determined after an investigation and preliminary examination.” After this, an initial examination will be conducted,” he explained.
A series of accidents occurred on Tuesday (February 4, 2025) around 11:30 PM WIB. At that time, the truck carrying mineral water gallons was about to enter the Toll Gate heading towards Jakarta.
Upon arriving at the location, the truck driven by BW (31) could not be controlled and swerved to the right and left.
The tronton truck then crashed into six vehicles in front of it. Three of the vehicles caught fire.
Among them are an Avanza, a sedan. There were three vehicles that caught fire. The truck only had its front burned,” said Agus.

As a result of this chain collision, eight people died and 11 were injured. Eight bodies are still at the Ciawi Regional General Hospital as of this morning. As for the injured victims, two have gone home and three others have been allowed to go home.
“The truck driver is safe, but he hasn’t been able to provide a statement yet,” he concluded.
