Jakarta – Hundreds of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers held a protest in front of the Ministry of Manpower on Monday (17/2/2025) to demand the issuance of regulations related to Holiday Allowance (THR). Around 500 to 700 demonstrators urged the government to require platform owners to pay holiday bonuses (THR) to online motorcycle taxi drivers, online taxi drivers, and couriers.
Chairperson of the Indonesian Transport Workers Union (SPAI) Lily Pujiati emphasized that this demand is an accumulation of the drivers’ dissatisfaction with the app developers who are considered to neglect workers’ rights. Lily stated, “For 10 years, no one has ever given them holiday bonuses, while they work every day generating hundreds of millions.”

In addition to holding demonstrations, the drivers are also urged to simultaneously turn off the application in various cities as a form of protest. This step was taken to pressure the app providers to pay more attention to the welfare of the workers who have been neglected for so long.
The Congress of the Indonesian Trade Union Alliance (KASBI), the Confederation of All-Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPSI), and the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Union Unity (KPBI) also support this action. They want a workers’ revolution so that their rights are fulfilled.
