Hundreds of online motorcycle taxi (Ojol) drivers and transportation workers who are members of the Indonesian Transportation Workers Union (SPAI) will hold a demonstration to demand Holiday Allowance (THR) in front of the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) office on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM WIB.
The Ojol drivers will temporarily go offline. It is estimated that there are 500-700 Ojol drivers who are members of the Indonesian Transport Workers Union (SPAI), urging the Ministry of Manpower to issue clear and pro-Ojol driver policies, particularly regarding the obligation of platform companies to pay holiday bonuses (THR). “Our demand today is for holiday bonuses for our four-wheeled taxi friends, Ojol drivers, and also for our courier friends.”
“All this time they have been working tirelessly for the applicators, but there has never been any contribution for us,” said SPAI Chairperson, Lily Pujiati, in an interview on the Semat Pagi Indonesia program on Metro TV, Monday, February 17, 2025.
SPAI Chairperson, Lily Pujiati, also mentioned the need for regulations to manage business competition on each online motorcycle taxi platform. This is because many companies are competing to offer low rates, which affects the welfare of Ojol drivers.
