Jakarta Senior singer Titiek Puspa, who was also a songwriter, actress, and cross-generational inspiration, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at around 4:25 PM WIB at Medistra Hospital, Jakarta.
His departure not only leaves sorrow for the extended family and the domestic entertainment world but also for the wider community that grew and was inspired by his works.
He is remembered as a multi-talented artist, but who would have thought he once aspired to be a teacher? But all of that vanished because of the lack of blessing from his father. At that time, he had already completed SGTK and it was time for the exam, but his father requested that there be no exam.
Because according to her father, women would become wives and only stay in the kitchen. “Because my mother had 12 children, if she were a simple person, there would be no maids, everything was done by my mother,” said Titiek Puspa in a talk show with Liputan6.com, uploaded in May 2022.
Starting a Career as a Singer
In 1952, Titiek Puspa had already started her career as a singer on one of Indonesia’s television stations. At that time, she was only 15 years old. Until finally, in 1954, he participated in the Central Java Radio Star Entertainment Contest and successfully overcame various challenges.
Due to that victory, Titiek Puspa finally departed from Semarang to Jakarta and began her career in Jakarta until the end of her life.
