Koster-Giri Legal Team Reports Rice Distribution Event to Bali Police

The legal team of the Bali gubernatorial and vice-gubernatorial candidate pair number 2, Koster-Giri, filed a report with Polda Bali. They reported alleged violations in the 2024 Bali Regional Election (Pilkada Bali). The Koster-Giri legal team revealed that they have gathered several pieces of evidence related to the alleged violations. He questioned the suspected distribution of rice and cheap coupons by Koster-Giri’s rivals in the Bali Governor Election (Pilgub) 2024.

“Responding to the situation from the past two days, we received information from the community and social media about the distribution of rice and coupons. The distribution of coupons for cheap rice,” said Hendrawan when contacted by detikBali, Monday (25/11/2024). The report of the alleged election violation was submitted to the Bali Police on Sunday (25/11/2024).

Hendrawan revealed that the alleged rice distribution occurred in several regencies/cities in Bali. He believes that these activities have the potential to disrupt public security and order during the calm period of the local elections.

The Koster-Giri team, Hendrawan stated, has attached evidence related to the alleged violations. This includes video clips, photos, and other information gathered by the community and the Koster-Giri winning team.

Hendrawan hopes that the Bali Police can conduct supervision and follow up if there are any violations during the regional elections. “We hope that the Bali Police will also participate in prevention and supervision. If any elements are found, they should also be processed,” he added.

According to Hendrawan, the Koster-Giri team has also reported the case to the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Bali Province. He requested that Bawaslu Bali tighten supervision of the distribution of rice and cheap coupons.

Previously, the winning team of the Bali governor-deputy governor candidate pair number 1, Made Muliawan Arya-Putu Agus Suradnyana (PAS), distributed rice with a cheap market concept in Denpasar. The sacks of rice were stamped with the image of Mulia-PAS.

Response from the chairman of Bawaslu Denpasar

The head of Bawaslu Denpasar, I Putu Hardy Sarjana, revealed that the cheap market was held by the Mulia-PAS winning team on Saturday (23/11/2024), or one day before the quiet period of the 2024 Pilkada. Bawaslu suspects that the cheap market is just a cover.

“I happened to go down directly to prevent it, which was initially planned to be distributed for free.” So, the coupons that had been distributed were priced at Rp 25,000. However, there was no buying and selling transaction. That is what we stopped and disbanded among the volunteers because there was no buying and selling transaction,” said the Chairman of Bawaslu Kota Denpasar, I Putu Hardy Sarjana, on Sunday (24/11/2024).

The head of the Mulia-PAS Denpasar team, Ida Bagus Yoga Adi Putra, said that the activity discovered by Bawaslu was not a free rice distribution. According to him, the activity was a cheap market and there were transactions involved. “It wasn’t disbanded, everything went on. There were transactions,” he said on Sunday.

Gus Yoga was puzzled by the news that the Mulia-PAS Tim’s activities were dissolved and stopped by the Bawaslu. However, he stated that there were members of the Panwascam present at the location during the event. “It went smoothly, safely, and under control. In fact, the Panwascam was present there,” added the Chairman of the DPC Gerindra Denpasar.
