As Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 (Nataru) approach, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso is optimistic that basic necessities (bapok) will remain stable and supply will be maintained. According to him, the prices of several basic necessities such as eggs, rice, beef, and chicken are observe to be stable and in line with the reference prices.
This confirm by Minister of Trade Budi after monitoring the Prawirotaman Market, Yogyakarta City, DI Yogyakarta today, Monday (25/11/2024). This activity was also accompanied by Rusmin Amin, Putu Jayan Danu Putra.
“Today we are checking the prices of basic necessities ahead of the Christmas and New Year period.”
Several basic necessities have stable prices and no increases, such as eggs, rice, beef, and chicken. The price of chili even decreased,” said Minister of Trade Budi.
Monitoring Shows Stable Basic Commodity Prices

Based on observations at Prawirotaman Market, the prices of staple commodities remain stable, namely medium rice at Rp13,500/kg, premium rice at Rp14,000/kg, Bulog SPHP rice at Rp12,500/kg, granulated sugar at Rp17,000/kg, MINYAKITA at Rp16,000/liter, premium packaged cooking oil at Rp18,500-19,500/liter, bulk cooking oil at Rp18,600/liter, and premium packaged flour at Rp11,000/kg. Furthermore, beef at Rp135,000/kg, broiler chicken at Rp34,000/kg, broiler eggs at Rp26,000/kg, curly red chili at Rp17,000/kg, red bird’s eye chili at Rp24,000/kg, red onion at Rp45,000/kg, garlic at Rp42,000/kg, and honan garlic at Rp35,000/kg.
He also assessed that the prices of these basic commodities will remain stable until the Christmas celebration in 2024 and beyond. “The prices of basic commodities are expected to remain stable until Christmas and the moments thereafter,” added Minister of Trade Budi.
Coordination with Distributors and Producers

Minister Budi also stated that he will coordinate with distributors and producers to ensure the guaranteed supply of essential goods to retailers. He urged distributors and producers to maintain the availability of goods in the market.
“As soon as possible, we will meet with distributors and producers to jointly ensure that the stock reaches retailers at affordable prices. We have urged distributors and producers to maintain the stock,” said Minister Budi.
Minister Budi also appreciated the Yogyakarta Regional Government for the very good management of the Prawirotaman Market. According to him, Prawirotaman Market is a people’s market that has facilities similar to a modern market. He highlighted the cleanliness of the market and the quality of its buildings. There are also spaces available for creative economy practitioners such as offices, podcast studios, cafes, and restaurants.
“This market is a good example of the synergy between the traditional sector and the creative economy, which provides a positive contribution to the local government,” concluded Minister of Trade Budi. The Ministry of Trade ensures it will continue to monitor the prices and supply of basic necessities leading up to the Christmas and New Year period. Previously, Minister of Trade Budi also monitored the availability and prices of basic necessities at Pasar Gedhe in Klaten, Central Java (22/11).
