Jakarta – The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) thanks all the people of Indonesia who participated in the Simultaneous Regional Elections 2024 and continue to trust the party.
Secretary General (Sekjen) of the DPP PDIP, Hasto Kristiyanto, stated that they won 14 provinces in the Simultaneous Regional Elections 2024 amidst the darkness of democracy, due to the interference of the National Police and Acting Regional Heads.
“This reflects the immense support from the people, and even the PDI Perjuangan’s base has expanded,” he said at the DPP PDIP Office, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Thursday (28/11/2024).
Hasto took the example of Depok City, which culturally has been a stronghold of the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), but was defeated by PDIP. Including Bekasi Regency and Gunung Kidul Regency, which have historically always been won by the Golkar Party.
“But this time, it was actually the candidate from Ms. Indah Subekti, who during the presidential election openly resisted Jokowi’s intervention, and it turns out that the people of Gunung Kidul supported someone who dared to stand up against various intimidations by winning Ms. Indah Subekti,” he explained.
Hasto also mentioned the victory of PDIP cadre Masinton Pasaribu in Tapanuli Tengah, which became a symbol of critical resistance against the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo or Jokowi. The city of Tebing Tinggi was also mentioned as never having been won by the PDIP, but now the PDIP DPC Chairman Imam Irdian Saragih has been elected as mayor.
“Similarly, in areas like Papua Induk, we faced off against a former regional police chief who turned out to be the same. In Papua Indok, they have experienced various forms of intimidation and then fought back by winning PDI Perjuangan cadres,” he explained.
“Therefore, based on the preliminary recap, if previously PDIP only won in six governors, now we have won in 14 provinces, and those from the cadres, which were previously around five, have now become nine,” he added.
PDIP Wins a Lot in Papua

Hasto then detailed the regions won by PDIP, including Aceh, Riau, Jambi, Bengkulu, the Bangka Belitung Islands, DKI Jakarta, Bali, Central Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, Papua, Central Papua, the Papua Mountains, South Papua, and West Papua.
“So why did PDIP win so much in Papua? Because Papua has become a symbol of exploitation.” “Various efforts to build road infrastructure are part of the oligarchy’s interests to expand the exploitation of natural resources in Papua, so they responded by supporting PDIP,” explained Hasto.
“And similarly in West Sumatra, it shows the expansion of PDIP’s base,” he continued.
Not to be missed is the victory of PDIP in Riau Province, which marks the first time PDIP has excelled in legislative and gubernatorial elections.
“This means it also shows how when the Bull’s Pen is attempted to be taken over, what happens is that the Bull’s Pen actually proliferates. In fact, public support expands, so from the Bull’s Pen in the Sumatra region,” Hasto emphasized.
