The quick count results of the Jakarta gubernatorial election show a defeat for the candidate pair number 01, Ridwan Kamil-Suswono (RK-Suswono). They lagged behind the candidate pair number 03, Pramono Anung-Rano Karno. (Pram-Doel).
Political observer Ari Junaedi revealed several factors behind the failure of RK-Suswono, namely the sluggish party machinery. Ari noted that the supporting party machinery for RK-Suswono did not operate optimally.
Then there were campaign blunders where RK-Suswono often made mistakes in delivering campaign issues. For example, the controversial statement about widows made by Suswono and RK in a joking manner offended many people, especially single parents.
Meanwhile, support from Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Prabowo Subianto also did not have a significant impact on their votes in Jakarta. Voters in Jakarta are considered more realistic in choosing their leader.
“The endorsement of figures for RK-Suswono did not become a decisive factor in the Jakarta gubernatorial election, because voters in Jakarta are very realistic,” added Ari.
