The Moment Prabowo Wept in Front of Indonesian Teachers

Jakarta – President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto was moved to tears while attending the peak commemoration of National Teacher’s Day at the Velodrome Rawamangun, East Jakarta, Thursday (28/11/2024). Prabowo initially expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to the teachers throughout Indonesia.

“I thank you, this invitation is an honor for me and I am here with only one intention, the main one, the most important one I want to do on this occasion, I want to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to the teachers throughout Indonesia,” said Prabowo while speaking in front of the teachers.
At this event, Prabowo announced a salary increase for Indonesian teachers. ASN teachers receive a welfare increase equivalent to one basic salary, while non-ASN teachers receive a professional allowance increase of Rp2 million.
Prabowo realized that the government’s efforts to improve teachers’ welfare were not in line with what the teachers needed. In this moment, Prabowo briefly choked up while wiping his nose with a tissue.

“We understand, we comprehend our efforts, the efforts of the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, the efforts of the Minister of Finance, we realize what we have provided, today’s announcement is not yet what you all need,” he explained.

“But this is…,” said Prabowo Subianto, pausing for a moment as he choked up. Prabowo then took a tissue to wipe his nose.

Commitment to Improve the Fate of Teachers to Farmers

Prabowo then continued his speech. He expressed his commitment to improving the lives of all Indonesian people, especially teachers, farmers, and fishermen.

“This is our effort and we will continue to strive for it.” Brothers and sisters, we must improve the lives of all our people, the teachers, the workers, the farmers, the fishermen,” said Prabowo.

He emphasized that teachers are the pillars of a nation’s foundation. According to Prabowo, education is the key for a country to succeed and prosper.

“There will be no successful country without teachers. I stand before you as the President of the Republic of Indonesia because my teachers were good,” he said.

He believes that education is the key to the revival of the Indonesian nation. Prabowo is optimistic that the poverty rate in Indonesia can be eliminated through education.

“Therefore, when I received the mandate from the people, my focus and that of my team, which eventually became the cabinet I lead, was primarily on education,” concluded Prabowo.
