Chairman of Commission XI of the DPR, Mukhamad Misbakhun, is also concerned about online gambling (judol) and online loans (pinjol) that are causing suffering to the community.
He directly met with his constituents in Pasuruan, East Java, to campaign against the dangers of online gambling (judol) and online loans (pinjol), where he held outreach sessions in two different locations, namely in Grati District, Pasuruan Regency, and Purworejo District in Pasuruan City.
In Grati, the Golkar Party politician also invited representatives from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to socialize the dangers of judol.
Misbakhun stated that gambling has a very negative impact on lower-income communities. According to him, the economic wheel of society, which should be turning, ends up stalling because the money is used for gambling.
“This online gambling is draining the economy. The community is becoming more difficult, and the country is being made difficult because the amount of money circulating in Indonesia is shrinking,” said Misbakhun in his statement, Friday (29/11/2024).
He added that there are many heartbreaking stories about the effects of online gambling. For example, there are many cases of divorce, domestic violence, children disrespecting their parents, and even suicides triggered by online gambling.
Therefore, Misbakhun warned his constituents not to be tempted by the promise of big profits from gambling. “Don’t let the money that should be for food and children’s school needs be diverted to online gambling in the hope that it will multiply,” said Misbakhun.
The people’s representative from East Java’s Electoral District II also urged all of his constituents to actively counter the dangers of online gambling in their respective environments. “The public must be reminded of the dangers of online gambling, which severely undermines the economic foundations of society and the state,” he explained.
