Shin Tae-yong Says the 2024 AFF Cup Will Be a Preparation Event for the Indonesian National Team for the 2025 SEA Games

Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong stated that the 2024 AFF Cup, now known as the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup (AMEC), will serve as a preparation event for his players as they look ahead to the upcoming 2025 SEA Games.

As is known, the South Korean tactician had previously called up 33 players to participate in the training camp (TC) for the Indonesian National Team in Bali. High targets have been set for the Garuda squad, even without the support of senior players. STY believes that besides pursuing achievements, the AMEC will also be used as a means to develop the potential of young players. “AMEC is a fairly significant tournament and part of the preparation for the SEA Games,” said Shin Tae-yong after a training session on Thursday (28/11/2024), as reported by the official PSSI website.

“These young players have great potential that can be developed to help advance Indonesian football in the future.”

“As we know, the opponent used their senior team, while we brought U-22 players.” However, we will build cohesion and create something good,” emphasized the 54-year-old tactician.
